4 Things to Do in Clarksville This Weekend: America’s 250th Birthday Edition
This isn’t just any Fourth of July weekend in Clarksville — it’s America’s 250th birthday, and our city is throwing a party to match. Whether you’re a lifelong local, a Fort Campbell family, or someone who just moved to town and wants to see what makes this community special, this weekend of July 4-5 is the perfect introduction. Here are four things to do in Clarksville this weekend.
America’s 250th Independence Day Celebration in Downtown Clarksville
The headline event is a two-day, rain-or-shine bash presented by the City of Clarksville and Montgomery County. Saturday, July 4, runs from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. across Downtown Commons, Public Square, McGregor Park, and the surrounding streets. Expect live music, carnival rides, a patriotic parade, historical reenactments, a Declaration of Independence reading, a car show, food competitions, inflatables, and family fun zones. Good Vibrations brings that classic 1960s and 70s California beach sound to Downtown Commons at 6 p.m., and the night closes with a patriotic drone light show at 9 p.m. Admission is free. Parking downtown fills up fast, so arrive early and plan your route ahead of time.
Fort Campbell Independence Day Celebration
Our neighbors at Fort Campbell are going all out on Saturday, July 4, starting at 1 p.m. on the Division Parade Field. The afternoon opens with a carnival and special attractions, followed by a Division Ceremony at 5 p.m., command remarks at 5:50 p.m., a concert at 6 p.m., and a fireworks show immediately after. Admission is free, with food and entertainment available for purchase. Heads up if you’re not a DoD ID cardholder: you’ll need vehicle registration, proof of insurance, and a valid photo ID for each person, and visitors arriving before 3 p.m. will need a visitor’s pass. All vehicles are subject to search, so give yourself extra time at the gate.
Clarksville Downtown Market
Start your Fourth of July morning the local way. The Clarksville Downtown Market runs Saturday, July 4, from 8 a.m. to noon on Public Square in historic downtown. You’ll find fresh local produce, handmade goods, tasty food, and live music from regional farmers, small businesses, and non-profits. It’s free to browse, and it’s the perfect low-key way to grab picnic supplies before the bigger celebrations kick off. Bonus: you’re already downtown and set up for the day’s festivities.
Sunday on Strawberry
If you’d rather ease into Sunday, July 5, head to Strawberry Alley in downtown for Sunday on Strawberry, a charming first-Sunday market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Since July 5 lands on the first Sunday of the month, this laid-back gathering of local vendors, makers, and food is the ideal way to wind down a big holiday weekend. Free to attend, and a lovely slice of the walkable downtown lifestyle that draws so many people to Clarksville.
The Clarksville Lifestyle, All Weekend Long
Here’s the realtor’s angle: weekends like this one are exactly why people fall in love with Clarksville. A revitalized, walkable downtown that can host a 250th-birthday festival one day and a cozy artisan market the next. A strong Fort Campbell community. Neighborhoods close enough to walk or bike to Downtown Commons, plus quieter subdivisions a short drive away for families who want space and a yard. If this weekend has you thinking that Clarksville might be home, whether you’re relocating with the military, buying your first place, or moving up, I’d love to help you find the neighborhood that fits your lifestyle.
