4 Things to Do in Clarksville This Weekend (May 9-10, 2026)
Mother’s Day weekend is here, and Clarksville is serving up a full plate — literally. Between a championship BBQ cook-off, the long-awaited opening day of the Downtown Market, wine on a Saturday afternoon, and a family-friendly outdoor movie, there’s something for every kind of weekend. Here are four picks worth getting off the couch for.
Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off
Slow-smoked brisket, ribs, and friendly competition take over Hilltop Supermarket this weekend for the 2026 Dwayne Byard Memorial BBQ Cook-Off. Friday night kicks off with a BBQ party, and Saturday brings the full cook-off with live music and plenty to eat.
When: Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9
Where: Hilltop Supermarket, 400 Highway 149, Clarksville
Cost: Free to attend; food available for purchase
If you’ve ever driven out toward Highway 149 and wondered what’s out that way, this is your excuse to explore. The northwest side of town has been quietly growing, and properties out near Sango and the rural pockets off 149 give you that “country roads, but still close to everything” feel that a lot of buyers tell me they’re chasing.
Opening Day of the Clarksville Downtown Market
The Clarksville Downtown Market is back. Saturday, May 9 is opening day for the season, and downtown will be buzzing with locally grown produce, baked goods, handmade items, and food vendors. It’s the kind of low-key, high-charm Saturday morning that makes Clarksville feel like a small town with big-city energy.
When: Saturday, May 9, 8 a.m. to noon
Where: Public Square, Downtown Clarksville
Cost: Free admission
The Downtown Market is one of the easiest selling points for buyers considering Historic Downtown or Liberty Park — being able to walk or take a quick drive to a Saturday market is a lifestyle perk that doesn’t show up on a listing sheet but absolutely shows up in how much you love where you live.
Live Music and Food Trucks at Beachaven Winery
Beachaven Vineyards & Winery is hosting a Saturday afternoon of wine, food trucks, and live music. Bring a blanket, claim a spot on the lawn, and settle in. It’s one of Clarksville’s most relaxed weekend traditions and a personal favorite for unwinding after a long week.
When: Saturday, May 9, 3 to 7 p.m.
Where: Beachaven Vineyards & Winery, 1100 Dunlop Lane, Clarksville
Cost: Free entry; pay for food and drinks
Beachaven sits right off Dunlop Lane near the Sango area — one of the most popular zip codes for buyers moving in from out of state. If you’re scouting neighborhoods, swing by the winery first and then drive a few minutes through Sango to get a feel for the area.
Outdoor Movie Night: Despicable Me 4
Montgomery County Parks and Recreation is putting on a free outdoor movie night Saturday with Despicable Me 4. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and the kids — concessions will be available on site. It’s the kind of free family night that’s hard to beat.
When: Saturday, May 9, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Montgomery County Parks and Recreation (check montgomerytn.gov for venue)
Cost: Free
If you have kids in the Clarksville-Montgomery County school system or you’re moving here with little ones, the Parks and Rec calendar is one of the best free resources in town — concerts, movies, splash pads, and rec center programs all year long. It’s worth bookmarking.
Don’t Forget — Sunday is Mother’s Day
Sunday, May 10 is Mother’s Day, and Clarksville’s brunch spots fill up fast. If you haven’t booked yet, call ahead this morning. Beachaven, Strawberry Alley Ale Works, and several Madison Street favorites are all great picks. And if Mom is house-hunting? A leisurely Sunday drive through neighborhoods is a great Mother’s Day activity (I know, I’m biased).
Thinking About Making Clarksville Home?
Whether you’re already here or planning a move from Fort Campbell, Nashville, or out of state, weekends like this are exactly why Clarksville keeps growing. If you’d like a tour of any of the neighborhoods mentioned above — Sango, Historic Downtown, Liberty Park, or anywhere else in Montgomery County — I’d love to show you around.
